Alexander Alexanders have '50 golden years' Mr. and Mrs. Ralph G. Alexander, formerly of Vernal, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in El Cajon Calif., where they have lived for several years. Ralph met Evelyn Ried in Vernal when she came here to work as a beauty beau-ty operator in Sadie McConkie's beauty beau-ty shop. They were married Oct. 16, 1933, in Colorado. During their life in Vernal they operated the Alexander Cafe, which . burned down. The cafe was also the. Burlington Trailways Bus Depot. After the fire they moved up the street and ran the bus depot for many more years. Ralph has been a Utah state fireman for about 46 years. They are the parents of five children, all of whom are living. Ralph Jay, Vernal; George Mirl, Taylor,' Ariz. ; Thomas Glenn, Glendale, Ariz. ; Delora, Soldotna, Alaska and Dorothy, Anchorage, Alaska. Ralph and Evelyn have 23 grandchildren grand-children and 5 great grandchildren. Jay and his wife, Chris, and their grandchild, Jared Hatch, drove down to El Cajon to celebrate the special day with "mom and dad." They had a lovely love-ly seafood dinner at a favorite restaurant. Then Ralph and Evelyn's many friends and neighbors came to the home with messages of love and best wishes. Flowers, cards and phone calls came from their four other children. - Submitted by the Uintah Poetry Society My Mother's Grace My mother's eyes peer from my face. At times I hear her voice in mine. If I could only show her grace in daily living, keep the pace she did. And yet, as if a sign, my mother's eyes peer from my face. They stare at me as I define the years that I cannot erase.' At times I hear her voice in mine, grown softer with the days, like lace that frays a bit in its decline. My mother's eyes peer from my face. She watches as I take my place among her daughters by design. If only I could show her grace, display her kind of love, retrace her path. She willed my sun to shine. My mother's eyes peer from my face. If only I could show her grace. Itonnle II.
