Show Thursday, June 2A 1363 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS CAMP FIRE GIRLS NEWS Day Camp for the Camp Fire Girls of Salt Lake Valley was a huge success. Held June 3 to 7 at the Taylorsville Recreation area, the camp provided many types of activities for girls throughout the - tea area. Among these activities was a nursery rhyme contest, which was won by Rita Josefeyzks group from Kearns. and headRattles, tom-tom- s made were dresses by many of the girls, and these articles were used in a darling dance done by 20 girls from Colleen Rieds and Kay Stevens groups. . The dance, entitled, Ten Little Indians, was performed during a Pow Wow which was held one day during the camp. Each group at camp participated in the Pow Wow with a skit or a dance. Other handicraft articles made by s, the girls were tote bags, and so on. Mrs. R. D. Spies of Salt Lake did a an excellent job planning the handicrafts, and Janet Hansen, director, had the games and activities very well organized. ban-.dana- Camp Fire Girls in Colleen Reids and Sue Bess groups made and sewed containers for flowers for their Decoration Day project. 'Jackie Krogman has announced her resignation as publicity chairman for the Camp Fire Girls. She has done an outstanding job, and will be missed in this capacity. On Saturday, June 22, several members of the VFW Post from Kearns will be at the West Kearns School to tape the tricycles and bicycles in this area with fluorescent tape to make the bikes visible at night. Post members have been at the various schools in this area all spring but due to the wet, cold weather several bikes still need to be taped. This service is free of charge and we would like to encourage all the young cyclists in this area to make an effort to come over and get their trikes and bikes marked.
