Moler, Ogden, Utah Girl Scout Council President, described the May 3 gathering of volunteer Girl Scout workers at Intermountain School in Brigham City. Over 200 Girl Scout troop leaders and other adults met for the two day session as preparation for the change from the 3 age level to the 4 age level for troops which will become effective in September. Miss Gwen Wescott from Region 12 headquarters in Los Altos; California, set the tone for the meeting at Friday mornings opening session. She pointed out that whatever activities Girl Scouts undertake, the underlying principal of the purpose of scouting must always be considered. To inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens, is our purpose, Miss Wescott explained. In Girl Scouting, we have a code of ethics our Promise and Laws designed to build character and responsibility and we recognize service as the rent we pay for the space we occupy on this earth. 2-- .
