Entries from every riding club in the State will be selected and compete during the coming weeks in regional contests. The district finalists will meet here during the Utah State Fair in September when the grand champion will be chosen to reign during the 1960 Centennial Celebration of the Pony Express. The girls, who must be 18 years of age by the end of September, or older, will be judged on their horsemanship, beauty, personality and intelligence when they carry their riding club colors into the competition. Any young lady who is not a club member can enter the contest by contacting the Queens Committee of the Utah Association of Riding Clubs of Salt Lake City. Following the Utah competition tiest horsewomen week- ly radio broadcasting over nationwide networks will be completed Sunday morning, July 19, by the world-fame- d Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir. A special broadcast marking the event will be aired Sunday over the Columbia Broadcasting System, originating with KSL Radio in Salt Lake City at 8:30 a.m. The thirty-yea- r record of broadcasting makes the choirs program the oldest continuous network series in American radio. The program started July 15, 1929, and has been carried by CBS since 1932. The half-hou- r program features music by the choir under Director Richard P. Condie, Tabernacle Organists, Dr. Alexander Schreiner and Dr. Frank Asper, and the timely and uplifting The Spoken Word by Richard L. Evans. Music requested by the listening audience will comprise the anniversary broadcast. Thousands of letters from listeners in all parts of the United States and from abroad have poured in during recent weeks. the finalists from the other states along the original Pony Express route will meet where the Miss Pony Express of the United States will be selected.
