Kearns Youth Killed in Auto Scooter Accident -- Funeral services were held this weekfo r a Kearns youth who lost his life last Thursday in an autoscooter accident at 3200 W. 6200 South, the day he was to have participated in graduation exercises, at the Kearns Jr. High School. Kenneth Gale Roberts, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd H. Roberts, 4100 W. 5700 South, was taken to the Salt Lake County Hospital where he was pronunced dead on arrival. The youth and his friend, Tod Hall, 14, of Sandy, were East bound on 6200 South when the accident occurred. A South bound car driven by Takao Isaki, 29, of West Jordan, struck the scooter with its right fender. The Roberts youth was knocked 16 feet and the scooter 88 feet. June Martin and Richard Sadler have announced that the pool hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Upon registration for classes the time will be given for that particular division. Magna Swimming Kearns Lions Club Installs New Officers Harold O. Heath, era of the J. C. Penny Co. in ployee Salt Lake City, has been elected president of the Kearns Lions Club succeeding Glenn Sarbo. Mr. Heath resides at 4551 W. 5415 South and served as vice president prior to the election. Others named to serve with him are Bert C. Gaillard, 4340 W. 5335 South, first vice president. Mr. Heath has been an active member of the Lions Club since 1952. He held the position of secretary and treasurer for five years. ' Sf. Francis Xavier Kindergarten Class Presents Graduation Program May 27 was a very special day for 32 youngsters ranging from 6 years of age, who had attended St. Francis Xavier Kindergarten Class during the past year. MAGNA The Explorer Scouts of the eight wards in the Oquirrh Stake, left Friday May 29th, for a trip down the San Juan River, under the direction of El Roy Davis. Two busses and four trucks left with food, gear and the boys on what is an annual event for the Explorer Scouts program. 75 to 80 people, including instructors, will drive to Medicine Hat where they will embark on their trip down the River. At the end of their trip, advisors will have a good hot cooked meal waiting for, the group. The group of scouts and their leaders are expected back home some time this coming Saturday. 0) pr |
