Show Page 4 Thursday, June 18, 1959 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Flavored Milk Drinks Are June Favorites Summertime, when liquids are high in demand, is a good time to serve plenty of energizing, refreshing milk. For a new and unusual refresher for your family or guests, why not try some flavored milk drinks. Theres practically no end to the variety that can be made, for it seems that almost any flavor goes well with milk. Milk snacks make appealing between-mea- l and are delicious with cookies as an evening treat. Theyre especially popular when you provide a variety of juices or syrups and let everyone create his own favorite. Try these tempting combinations next time the cry for refreshing beverages rings out. Chocolate Milk Shake Add 2 tablespoons or more chocolate syrup to 1 cup milk. Beat with egg beater. Top with ice cream vanilla or chocolate. Frosted Chocolate Beat into the chocolate and milk mixture a scoop of ice cream. Malted milk may be added. Maple Milk Shake Use 2 to 3 tablespoons of maple syrup instead of chocolate. Grape Cooler Combine equal parts of cold grape juice and milk, stirring the grape juice into the milk. Add a top knot of pick-me-u- ps tablespoons chocolate flavored malt drink powder. Then stir in milk. Pineapple Crush Stir together y4 cup crushed pineapple with its syrup and 1 cup cold milk. The Strawberry or Raspberry Crush Using sweetened crushed berries, combine Vi cup of the berries with 1 cup milk. Add sugar, egg, vanilla and beat until creamy, then add the melted chocolate. Combine dry ingredients in flour sifter and add to creamed mixture along slightly sweetened whipped with the nuts, raisins and milk. cream. Pineapple juice may be used in the same way. Banana Flip Choose a fully ripe banana, flecked with brown. Peel, slice into a bowl and beat until creamy using a hand or electric beater. Add 1 cup of cold Mix well. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake in a moderately hot oven (400) about 10 minutes. Remove from pan at once, onto a cake rack. When cool, frost with Chocolate Icing made by milk. It will consist of a three evening course on instructions followed by an instruction course at the firing range. The troop is also participating in a weekly swimming class at Cyprus High pool under the direction of Le Roy Bird. This will fill their swimming requirements so they may receive their merit badges for such.
