Show Thursday, June 4, 1959 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Page 7 The next meeting of the Lady Lions will be held June 5th, at the home of Mrs. Nona Wilkins at 8 p.m. Preparations are being made to sell raffle tickets on a 20 doll that will have a full and complete wardrobe which has been made by the Lady Lions. The doll has high heels and rooted hair. A regular meeting of the Ameri- Members of the Magna VFW Post and its auxiliary as they prepare to leave for a weekend vacation. The members of the Magna VFW Post were able to enjoy a weekend vacation through the courtesy of the Elko Travel Bureau, and through the aid of several of the post members who won the trip for the group. I For the first year, West Kearns School has received a certificate of Exceptional Merit and was placed on the National School Safety Honor Roll of the National Safety Council, Max F. Jackman, principal, announced today. We are proud of our safety education program and are pleased that the National Safety Council has recognized our efforts. Mr. Jackman said, As long as accidents are the first ranking cause of death among school-ag- e children, all of us on the staff of West Kearns School will continue our organized program to teach the young people of our community to protect themselves and their fellow afternoon for the VFW Convention that will be held in Provo this year, June The Ladies Civic Club of Kearns will hold their first annual Past Presidents dinner Wednesday June 10th, at 8 p.m. The dinner will be held at Andys Smorgasbord. Pins will be presented to Mrs. A. Miller Sams, Mrs. Rex Oberhansley, Mrs. Carl G. Wilcox, Mrs. Bob Angelos, Mrs. Roy Wyett, Mrs. Glenn Sarbo and Mrs. Alton S. Barton, all are past president of the club. The Founders Day Queen contest got under way June 1st under the direction of the Ladies Civic Club. Registration for the contest may be made at the home of either Mrs. Venna Nash or Mrs. Sybil Barton. The girls must be between the ages of 13 to 19, and will have to carry with them at all times they are soliciting, a card varifying their registration. Voting is carried out by the penny a vote system. ATTENTION: A small girls purse was left at the Kearns Library last week.
