Show Thursday, May 21, 1959 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS age 2 rief NEWS Editorial Vandals Strike Church Again For the fourth time in recent months the Trinity Methodist Church in Kearns was visited by juvenile vandals who 'don't even respect the House of the Lord. Remember, the young people of today, are the America of tomorrow. , Isn't it our duty as parents to teach them right from wrong and let them know that a church is the House of God? We may not all worship in the same church or be of the same faith, but we still need to respect the belief of our fellow men and teach our children accordingly. When the congregation of the Trinity Methodist Church saw their building last week, they had a hard time recognizing the inside. Windows, light bulbs and fixtures were broken, glue and paste was spilled all over the floor and furnishings and papers had been burned on a table. Things like that would make anybody heartsick but when it is your own church it hurts even more. Today I was told that the Insurance Company cencelled the glass breakage insurance because they could not afford the continued replacements. This is a sad state to let our community come to, when a congregation is forced to hire extra protection to keep their church m one piece. What is wrong with our citizens and our police force to let these things happen in the first place? The churches here in Kearns are an asset to the community and should be treated as such. So I ask you, fellow citizens, please sit down sometimes and tell your children about community pride and respect for other peoples property and houses of worship. The Little Leaguers are no exception. It is here that the boys of the small towns gain in the experience and knowledge that can take them far into the field of baseball. Through the help and of adults in a community such as that which has been displayed by the families and friends of our National Little League teams in the past few weeks, our boys have and can have more facilities to' encourage and advance in this field of sports. After a meeting recently held with the families of the Little League boys and managers, help that was needed and very much appreciated by the managers and president of the Kearns National Little League was donated by the public to complete work on their ball field. Items such as sand, gravel, cement mixers, and hours of man power and labor were donated towards the completion of the ball field. The thanks of the teams and their managers and directors is extended to the public. The first game of the season was played Saturday, May 16, between the Minor Cardinals and the Braves, with the Braves taking the lead 15 to 12. More games are scheduled throughout the week. Watch for more scores next week. recreaParish Hall. The Catholic Bishop went to Liberty Park for will officiate. The Altar Society tion.
