Show Page 6 Thursday, January 26, 1961 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Kearns Rifle and Pistol Club The week began with 18 members of the club meeting at South High School for their weekly shoot, and as decided they shot for qualifications. All but a few members qualified as marksmen. These shoots will continue till all members are qualified as marksmen, and then on to higher qualifications and individual awards. This coming Tuesday, pistol qualification will be in order. The pistol shoot for the team will be Feb. 7th. badly needed by the state to train and the three young hunters-to-bdollar fee is well within reason. The course is to be held at the Armory in Murray. The rifle team, after Thursday nights shoot, is now in first place, with a team score of 809. Also, they are in first place for individual score. The club has been challenged to a pistol shoot by the University Pistol Team. We are accepting this challenge even though the club, as yet, has not formed their pistol team. The guests who were to speak to the club asked to have their talk postponed till Wednesday the 25th. The speakers will be Mr. Robert Lindblad and Mr. Robert Middleton. Mr. Lindblad is the man who derecently signed the survival kit National used by members of the Guard in their trek out of the rough mountains of Wyoming.
