Vice president is Mrs. ' Carolyn Hickam, 369 Leslie Ave.; Secretary Mrs. Lorrain Roos, ' 1444 Emery St.; Treasurer Mrs. Irene Fryer, 445 E. 17th So.; Social chairman Marlene Parkin, 1225 Driggs Ave.; Luncheon chairman Mrs. Lenore Spratt, 12916 So. 13th East; Mrs. VirProgram chairman ginia Wasescha, 963 No. 12th West; Mrs. Mary Nursery chairman Wilkins, 315 Roosevelt Ave. Retiring officers in addition to Mrs. Carlston are Mrs. Zoe Ann Mrs. Brown, former Marie Lindley, secretary; Mrs. Betty Eakle, treasurer; Mrs. Carol Hite, social chairman; Mrs. Louise Corbit, luncheon chairman; Mrs. Joan Valentine, program chairman, and Mrs. Afton Powell, nursery chairman. Purpose of the YW Wives Group is to provide a day out for busy mothers. Nursery service is available for small children and the mothers enjoy a day of recreational and social activity. The group has been especially popular with young mothers who perhaps lack church or other affiliation to provide outside interest. Information concerning the activities of the group is invited. Merit badges offer opportunities for boys to literally go from A to Z from Agriculture through Zoology. In filling them a boy learns many facts and useful skills. Take a look in a Scout Handbook sometime to see the great variety of information a boy may acquire. Admiral Chester Nimitz has written; 40 per cent of the men I commanded in the Pacific had been Boy Scouts. But that 40' per cent won 60 per cent of the awards for valor. Next week when you see the boys in uniform, the Cubs, the Scouts and the Explorers, together with their leaders, give them your salute in the form of renewed enthusiastic support and interest. M. In a nation that has many weeks of every nature, flippant, ridiculous and serious, no organization more richly deserves recognition than the great Boy Scout movement. Many people are involved to make a good Boy Scout organization. There are Den Mothers, Troop Committees, Scout Masters and Institutional Representatives to name a few.
