Show Page 3 Thursday, January 15, 1976 K earns 9th Ward Wins T ourney Tournament Kearns Ninth Ward emerged as Girls Oquirrh Region Volleyball Tournament champions in action last Thursday night at the Magna LDS stake center, 3100 S. 8400 West. In the two out of three eliminations they defeated second place Spencer Third 8 and 15 - 6. Ward, In the consolation bracket Kearns Sixth lost out ' to Pleasant Green Pleas-ah- t Goilrth and Green turned around to face Spencer First and lost two straight, 9 in overtime play and That Nelson, Terri Potts, Susan placed winners. 12-- 15-- 4 15-- 4. 11-- 9-- 6. Spencer First The Utah Raizer and Debbie Birch. Time and score keepers were Anita Simons, Reva Ames and Alice Mason. Alice Higby and Alice Mason maintained the sportsmanship standings. Sports gear rather than trophies was awarded the top teams. The championship team was coached by Kathy Powell. The second place team was coached by Lindy White. Annette Coon coached Spencer Second to their consolation win and bebbie Foster was coach of the MEY of Museum well-know- n against Spencer Second in the finals. Loans for the exhibition was organized to celebrate this, event as schedule continues with an exhibition entitled American Painting Around 1850. This will mark the first time that the people of this area will have the opportunity to see a major exhibition of American painting of the midnineteenth century, a period when the diverse impulses in American public and private life found visual expression in a variety of artistic modes-- .
