Show Thursday, February 4, 1965 THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS AREA CHURCH NEWS Taylorsville First Ward Stephen Paxton Called Stephen Paxton had his Farewell Testimonial at the Taylorsville First Ward on Jan. 24 at 2:30 p.m. He has left for the Central German Mission for the next 2 Vt years. We wish him success and good health while he is on his mission. Stephen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester C. Paxton, 4822 So. 1175 West. Mr. and Mrs. Lester C. Paxton also have another outstanding son. He is Danny Paxton and he won the County Boy of the Year Award sponsored by the Midvale Chamber of Commerce. Gold & Green Ball Friday A Gold and Green Ball will be held Feb. 5 at 8:30 p.m., in the new Taylorsville Stake House. This will be a three ward affair and includes Taylorsville First Ward, Taylorsville Fifth Ward and Taylorsville Seventh Ward. Refreshments will be served. $1.00 per couple or $.50 a single person. Penny Parade Slated Taylorsville Penny Parade will be held Feb. 10. Please be generous and give at least two cents for each year you have born. This money all goes to the Primary Childrens Hospital. Taylorsville Third Ward Mission Calls Residents We have three labor missionaries leaving Taylorsville Third Ward to go to St. George, Utah to work on some new chapels. Their names are as follows: Ken Bracey, Jim Sellers and Gary Harrison. They have been working on the Taylorsville Third Ward Chapel since the groundbreaking, and they have done a fine job, and the people in the ward wish to thank them for the work they have done. Ken Bracey also worked on the stake house for a few months, for which the people in the Taylorsville Stake also thank him. These three labor missionaries are going to St. George, Utah with the Art Ahlberg family, and will labor together building new chapels. New Chapel Progresses The Taylorsville Third Wards new chapel is coming along fine. The brick work is nearly completed and some of the inside work is finished. We know the people in the ward will be happy when the chapel is completed, and they can start meeting in their new building. Elder Garrett Returns Elder Richard Garett just returned from a two year mission to New Zealand. He reported his mission In Sacrament Meeting in the Taylorsville Third Ward on Jan. 24. He gave an outstanding talk. Building Fund Dinner The Taylorsville Third Ward had a building fund dinner on Friday, Jan. 29, which was a success. The bishopric wants to thank every one who supported them in this dinner. Taylorsville Ninth Ward Relief Society Sustains New Presidency A new Relief Society presidency was sustained in the Taylorsville Nnith Ward as follows: Lorna Miles, president; Barbara councilor; Mackelprang, Floy Munk, second councilor; Janice Thayne, secretary. We wish these sisters success in their new calling. Gold & Green Ball Feb. 19 first Remember the Taylorsville Ninth Ward will have their Gold and Green Ball on Friday, Feb. 19. More will be given on this later in the month, but be sure and keep this date open, as we would like a good turnout. Arthur Ahlberg Called On Work Mission Arthur W. Ahlberg, 5121 So. 2200 West, was formerly called on a Taylorsville Stake Work Mission, and he has been working on the new chapel for the Third and Eighth Wards. Now he has been called on a labor mission and he left for SL George, Utah on Feb. 2, where he will be working on new chapels in this area. His family will join him as soon as he finds living quarters for them. We wish them success in their new calling. Adrain Teerling Called To Netherlands Mission Adrian Teerlink, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Teerlink, 5212 So. 1950 West, has been called to the Netherlands Mission.
