There has been much criticism of the present board of directors, by some groups and individuals, concerning the remaining portion of the original $3,000. These people desire that this money be used to further develop the est Kearns Park, which is now county-owne- d property. This group of people state that the $3,000 was given to the Foundation specifically for the development of the West Kearns Park, giving no consideration for any other park site. The present board feels that we have four acres of property that should be considered and further more developed as community Letter to the Editor Dear Mr. Editor: This letter pertains to the Kearns Recreation Foundation Inc. Along with the park sites we received $3,000 in cash. The West Kearns Park site was deeded to the Salt Lake County Recreation Organization for the of development. The purpose Kearns Swimming Pool was deeded to the Salt Lake County Recreation due to the cost of maintenance and operation. These moves were made several years ago because it was felt at that time, that the financial burden could not be carried by the community. But it isnt necessary to have the new fifty-sta- r flag in order to put out a flag for Memorial Day, next Mon- -- 77 day. Many times our area has been conspicuous for the few flags on display. As a community and as a nation we have much to be thankful for, many things to remember from the past and much to hope for in the future. Let us not be too busy Monday morning to have our flag in readiness to display for the whole beautiful day.
