Mr. Max Jackman, principal of the West Kearns Elementary School, depicted the life of a teacher last week, in a faculty assembly presented for the students of the school. Substituting for the av- erage students were the members of the school faculty. In the presentation that was written by a member of the faculty, the actors blew hugh bubbles with their bubble gum and did in general the things the teacher ordinarily discourage and frown upon. The script in rhyme, showed the stu- dents what they some times look like to the teachers. KEARNS SCHOOL NEWS West Kearns The student council of the West Kearns School is planning a benefit film, to be shown to the student body sometime in March. The proceeds from this show will be presented to the Granite District Welfare Plan. This welfare plan, sponsored by the Granite School District, enables s, students to receive aids free and dental work hearing of charge. Mr. Jackman, principal, explained that the plan is strictly confidential and only the parents and the doctor or nurse are involved. Many youngsters, who are handicapped in school by poor eyesight or defective hearing, and are financially unable to obtain visual or hearing aids, are eligible to apply thru the doctor or nurse to a screening committee. If they qualify, their need will be taken care of. Mr. Jackman said that several of the students at the West Kearns School, in the past and present, have benefited from this plan. Annually, the schools in the district have one special benefit show to help classmates and youngsters eye-glasse- of their own age throughout the district. We have studied about crayfish, lobsters, crabs, clams, oysters, snails, d squids, sea anemones, animals and other life in the water. Octopuses and sqids have long tentacles with suction cups on the underside and belong to the same group as clams. She is replacing Mrs. Robert (Gerry) Williams, who recently resigned after being secretary at the school for the past three years. Mrs. Dangerfield is married and the mother of five children ranging from years in age. They attend schools in the Jordan District. Mrs. Dangerfield was formerly employed by Leisure Homes and is well experienced in secretarial work. She stated that she is very happy with her new job, especially since she has been looking for this opportunity for some time. Besides being an excellent secretary as well as a mother and wife, Mrs. Dangerfield enjoys all types of sports but her favorite is 7-- 14 trap-shootin- Salt Lake Citys complete organization for fast and economical production in the graphic arts. Kearns PTA News The Annual Founders Day program, sponsored by the South Kearns PTA will be held tonight, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., in the multipurpose room. The room with the best parent participation will be treated to a large cake. Parents are asked to register in each of their childrens rooms if they have more than one child attending South Kearns. A meeting of the Kearns Jr. High School will be held tonight, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., in the auditorium. A nominating committee, to find PTA officandidates for 1960-6- 1 cers will be elected.
