The four students, Susan Whitaker, Terry Grow, Marilyn Shaw and Billy Joe Eden, had left about 7 a.m. for a hike into the hills west of Magna, for a days outing. As the group was walking along the edge of a cliff, Billy Joe Eden slipped from the edge of the cliff. He fell through some brush and trees that helped to break his fall and prevented him from sustaining more serious injuries. Miss Kearns Crowned Sanchez, Second at Ceremonies To give our school age youngsters several hours of supervised" recreation daily five days per week during their summer vacation, the County Recreation Department is their special again sponsoring County Recreation Program this year. The program will begin June 9th at South Kearns, West Kearns and Kearns Jr. High. At South Kearns there will be morning activities, plus arts and crafts, as well as dancing and story-tellin- g in the afternoon. At West Kearns the program will be the same except baseball is an added attraction there. At Kearns Jr. High Mr. Didrick-so- n will instruct a special crafts course. Lets take advantage of this program and keep the children off the streets and out of mischief this Summer. Students Help President Christiansen to Speak high-rankin- Each contestant entered into a bathing suit, talent, evening dress and intellect competition. The girls gave a wonderful performance in all divisions. . .Miss Kathlene Cafarelli received the title of Miss Kearns for 1959-6First attendant is Jackie LaRue Condor. Front Page Award Garnered by View News Valley The View News, has been Valley selected as first honorable mention, in the Front - Page - of - the - Month Award for April, 1959. The selection is made by students and staff of The Journalism Department at Brigham Young Uni- versity. The announcement came from R. Neal Richards, chairman of the judging committee and instructor of Journalism at BYU. The award is based on attractive and appropriate handling of headline and body typography, placement and handling of stories and illustrations, and quality reproduction. This award is made each month with three finalists named.
