TBeu&tt 53 74 88 ANYTHING GOES a Next fall, the newly organized Kearns Fine Arts Foundation plans to bring to the people of Kearns a series of programs dedicated to the cultural arts. We can be thankful that there are a handful of people who are willing to work hard to bring this type of entertainment to us. While their efforts take a lot of time on their part, an undertaking like this can be a success only if the people of Kearns support the programs. And the only support they ask of us is that we attend these presentations. Next Tuesday, March 2, will give all of us an opportunity to let the Foundation know if we want a cultural arts program in Kearns or not. At 8:15 p.m., Eugene Jelesnik will conduct the Salt Lake Philharmonic in a program of music at the Kearns Junior High School auditorium. This is the kick-of- f for a series of programs to be presented later in the year. The type of programs and number that will be presented will depend, of course, on the number of people who attend this first concert. This program, sponsored by the Music Performance Trust Funds of the Recording Industries, is presented by the Kearns Fine Arts Foundation. The concert 'is free but everyone who plans to attend must have a ticket. These tickets are now GRAND RE-OPENE- NG FOR THE SUMMER SEASON I! available at Albertsons Food Stores, Valley Discount Market, Safeway, and the Kearns Lanes. The program will be interesting and diversified. There will be selections from The Merry Widow, by Franz Lehar. Excerpts from Sound of Music, by Rodgers and Hammers toin will also be presented. The orchestra will play Themes from Scheherazade, which has always been an audience favorite. For the opera lovers, a medley entitled, A Night at the Metropolitan Opera will be presented. The selection In An Eighteenth Century Drawing based on a sonata by Mozart, is sure to Room, please. Along with the orchestral numbers, Mr. Jelesnik will also present a marimba soloist and two vocal soloists. George Alexander, a balladeer, will sing They Call the Wind M?ria, from Paint Your Wagon, by Lerner and Lowe. Billie Loukas, who used to sing with Lawrence Welk, will sing an aria from La Traviata, by Verdi. So, why not plan to attend this concert next Tuesday evening? I am sure that you will be richly rewarded. And, you will be giving an impetus to the kick-of- f program that will be greatly appreciated by those people who are working so hard to bring a cultural program to Keaxns.
