Show I 1b lift Future Discussed 4-- H nimby, Bvlbtifl Boxers Take Golden Gloves Titles Ad-Pe- O f The Fort Duchesne council met March 19 to discuss the future of the organization for this area. Present at the meeting were Marietta Reed, Nataline Santio, and David VanderKraats, Com-- : munity Development Specialist for Utah State University Extension. The purpose of the meeting was to decide whether or not to conduct a met program this year. Last year the much opposition from people who did not understand its value and consequently caused a slow down in the development of the Youth Programs. That, coupled with! the lack of volunteer adult leaders and financial difficulties, prompted Mr. VanderKraats to call this meeting. It was decided that the program would be run on a smaller scale this year, rather than with the large clubs. Each family will be responsible for their own club, assuming total financial involvement and leadership. USU will present each family with the necessary program material, form, pamphlets and training for the adult 4-- H 4-- H tribally-sponsore- 10-1- 4-- H Ad-Pe- p 19-2- 2. Ad-Pe- p Ad-Pe- From time to time, the University will arrange to have leadership training for the adults. With the family involvment, both the parents and children will benefit from Some of the projects the program offers include: leather work, arts and crafts, animal clubs, sewing, family living, nutrition, gardening and speciality clubs, such as model rockets. The completed projects will be entered in the local fairs in August and the winning entries will be sent to the State Fair later in the summer. The University will provide information for parents who want to organize a club. Nataline Santio will be the Fort Duchesne representative to the council. Utes Boast Athletes At Boarding Schools During the current school year several Ute students have distinguished themselves in sports at the boarding schools they attend, according to information provided by the Education Department. James Reed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reed of Fort Duchesne, is an outstanding rebounder, hitting 87 from the free throw line on the Stewart Indian High School basketball team. In addition to being a leader in his dorm, the e old senior was named defensive tackle last fall as a member of the Stewart football team. old Another Stewart student, senior Woody Myore was on the first squad of the schools football team last fall and has been a standout this winter in boxing. He is the son of William B.
