Show FASHION B6 BY BRIANNA BAILEY Opinions writer How to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring Cristina Irizarry, Health Care Administration major, junior q t's no secret that everyone dreads each new season of the year as the fashion trends change. A change in the season means a change in style and not everyone can always afford to purchase a brand new wardrobe. This spring, you don't have to splurge at the mall to have what's in. There are alternate solutions to keep you chic and trendy. First off, examine what you already have you in your closet and what you've been wearing throughout these cold and blistery months. There are essentials you've already been wearing that can easily be worn in the spring as well. One of the easiest items to transition your wardrobe with is a highwaisted skirt. Drop all the excess layers and wear the skirt with a floral tank or top. Then there are those scarves that have been trapped beneath furry Eskimo coats in the snow. Bring them out to life and let them be the bold statement in your outfit. Say these weren't quite your winter essentials and you need more thorough advice on transitioning wardrobes between seasons. We have the perfect solution for that too. This Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m., Nordstrom will be hosting their "Spring has Sprung" fashion show and event. The event is centered on transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring. Departments B .P., Point of View and Handbags will be officially hosting the show. Customers are invited to come dressed in their favorite winter outfit for the transition of their wardrobes. There will be mini instructional styling clinics conducted by employees for every customer to participate in. "I am so excited to host this event and share our fashion knowledge with the community," said Emily Pollard, B .P. manager. "There will be lots of exciting extras, including a drawing featuring a Kate Spade bag filled with Nordstrom goodies. This will be the fashion event of the season." So don't let this spring season bring you or your wallet down because now you can afford it. Just use what you already have in your closet to fulfill this seasons new trends. What you truly can't afford to miss is "Spring has Sprung" at Nordstrom this Saturday, so mark your calendars. N.1 I I his spring, lace is blossoming in the fashion industry. The Sche Report claimed lace is a spring and summer 2011 top ten trend. This season, the runways were vibrant with lace, classified into colored lace, antique and tablecloth lace or lingerie-inspired lace. Bright and neon colors are also a current trend for the spring season, so it was no surprise that lace tops are being featured in these colors. Colored lace was not only used in casual tops, but for chic jackets, skirts, dresses and blouses. The antique and tablecloth look creates a bohemian and romantic mood from the '70s, with a crocheted appearance. Brown leather accessories go great when styling with this look. Dolce and Gabbana and Ralph Lauren have recently featured white tablecloth lace in spring runway shows. The lingerie-inspired category features dressy, delicate lace that is usually embellished with beads, bows, floral trimmings or lace ruffles and usually combined with sheer chiffon material. This collection of lace is sexy, feminine and sophisticated. The most important thing to remember when wearing lace is to make sure you are comfortable with the piece you chose. Wear something that matches your personality and have fun with the items you put together.
