Show A6 Culture Monday • July 6,2009 uvu. Time for the closet quitters to expose themselves HMELSUNDQUIST Culture writer The Springville Museum of Art will be accepting entries for this year's Quilt Show July 9-11. The entries will be juried, and accepted quilts will be on display at the museum July 17 to Sept. 2. The exhibit is sponsored by the Museum alongside the Utah Valley Quilt Guild. Showcasing a wide variety of quilting techniques, the Quilt Show is sure to hang an interesting mix of traditional and modern quilts. Each piece requires technique and inspiration, is unique and tells a story. The quilts are art, not at all like the bedspreads found at super-stores. Each quilt is named and signed by the quilter. On July 15 at 5 p.m., the Museum will host a Quilt Preview Party and Awards Show, open to all quilt entrants, Museum members, volunteers, sponsors, and Utah Valley Quilt Guild Members. That means preserving the land where they live and work, protecting the air and water they share with neighbors, and providing the best care for their cows - the lifeblood of their business. Dairies continue to provide healthy products, while working to provide a healthy environment for our communities. www.UtahDairyCouncil.com 53 YKAR.S OF I A I . U N G IN l.OVK g^ This is more a public service announcement than a tip. In some places (particurlarly Amarillo), there seem to be no rules other than the'first one there wins. People will smash into you, cut in front of you - anything to get a better seat on the bus. And if you think for one second there is any kind of authority there to help you, you are mistaken. I hate to say it, but there seemed to be no authority at all outside of the tenuous control of the bus drivers - and most of them were pretty cold. All in all, even though I researched and asked questions and thought I had prepared; myself adequately, I should have spent twice as much money and taken the train. Tak~: ing the bus cost me a lot of valuable time, caused a lot of unnecessary stress, and in some cases was actually traumatizing. The worst thing was the way I was treated as a customer - basically it was like paying to be humiliated and mistreated. I know other people have had decent experiences, but as for me, you couldn't pay me to ever takethe bus anywhere again. village LOSEE enjoy village life Jewelers Condo Amenities *Year Round Heated Pool *Modern Architecture *Private Key Locked Bedrooms *Washer/Dryer in Each Unit •42" HD flat Screen TV *Leather Couches *Granit Countertops ^Central air Conditioning *9 foot Ceilings *Knotty Alder cabinets *Tile Porcelain Floors Christmas inJuly TIK1 time has come..to close out our entire inventory at drastically reduced prices due to our store closing July is a hot month for some.
