Forthefirsttime,UVSC will be hosting a Graduate School and Professional Health School Fair, to be held in the Grand Ballroom. The Grad Fair begins Thursday Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. and will continue on until 3 p.m. Over 80 schools plan on attending, representing general graduate studies offices, specific graduate programs, and professional health schools (medical, dental, osteopathic, physical therapy, chiropractic, optometry, pharmacy, dental hygiene among others). Programs in law, English and business will also be at the Fair. Tiffany Nez, a UVSC graduate who now works in the Honors Office on campus, sees the Fair as an excellent possibility for students. "Actually that is how I got into Cornell," she said. "I went to a Grad Fair, spoke with the [representatives] which gave me a connection to the school, and the rest is history." Because the Fair only comes once per year, seniors are especially encouraged to make it out to the event. The Grad Fair offers opportunities to students such as networking and building relationships with programs that are available. The representatives are at the Fair to answer any questions about graduate or professional school study as well as answer specific questions concerning their respective school, its strengths, and each students options. Career Services and Student Employment and Academic Advising will be sponsoring the event, with its website offering suggestions to prospective attendees to enable the best experience. Among these, appropriate dress is recommended as well as a little preparation beforehand in regards to the schools. As the website states, "You'll get much more out of your conversations with school representatives if you've taken the lime beforehand to inform yourself a bit about the schools that most interest you." The list of schools attending can be viewed online at www.uvsc.edu/ csse/gradfair.
