Linkin Park Ken Hoglund Linkin Park Life writer Multi-platinum rock act Linkin Park returned to Utah for the second time in the past year. Linkin Park came to the E Center, along with Coheed and Cambria, and Chiodos on March 8. Linkin Park is one of the biggest rock bands in the world, and its stop here in Utah was to promote its double-platinumsclling new album. Minutes To Midnight. Sales worldwide for the album have exceeded 4 million copies, having reached No. i in 32 countries. Opening the show was Chiodos, which took some people by surprise because the band is rather obscure. In an interview before the tour started, Mike Shinoda said of Chiodos. "A lot of people aren't going to know who they are, but there are going to be some hardcore kids out there that are fans of theirs that are really going to be excited that they're on a bill like this with us and Coheed and Cambria." Linkin Park, Coheed and Cambria, and Chiodos brought energy to the E Center that only worldfamous rock bands can. Chiodos Jack Waters Managing editor A six-piece band full of energy and creativity opened for Linkin Park in the E Center on March 8, giving thousands of fans a fresh sound to revel in while waiting for the headlining acts. Chiodos, a relatively unknown band hailing from Michigan, is surprising crowds nationwide with their energetic opening act concert performances. Leading the way for Chiodos is Craigery Owens' crooning vocals, which glide effortlessly over eclectic guitar riffs, creative keyboard playing and furious drums. Faithful fans sing along to Owens1 lyrics, though few may actually be able Linkin Park to achieve the high-pitch vocal range he is capable of hitting, which ranges from smooth, soft lullabylike words into throatwrenching-yet-melodious screams. Their second LP, "Bone Palace Ballet" was released in Sept. 2007, and draws its name from a Charles Bukowski collection of poetry. It debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart. Their first LP, a 2005 release entitled "All's Well That Ends Well," is considered a must-have for fans of the band.
