MANY CHANGES Uta Utah taxpayers ought to be thankful that at last we have a real governor, who is putting his foot down and means it. No more lobbying by state departments, and noimore dillydallying on the job either. Every state employe is to earn a day's pay by a full days work. Thats going to save thousands of dollars in itself, but mare important, every department muat stand on its own record, and not depend upon wheedling the legislators into voting special appropriations far their particular programs, nor attempt to control legislation by the unholy methods of "lobbying" in the state capital. It ought to be a warning also to vested interests, and special privilege to stay out of the halls of the state capita, and no longer attempt to "grind their axes at the doors of legislators, nor seek control of this state through bribery and "inside influence" with coteries and cliques. We are so jubilant about the prospects that we almost feel like predicting "A New Day has Dawned for Utah." We do predict, however, that if the present legislators do not get into line, and back Governor Maw in his reform program, every individual member who so fails his people will "get the axe at the next election, for the people of this state have made their minds up to the ideal of clean government, and the elimination of pressure groups, special privileges, "junketing trips, and all the other facilities of corrupt politics.
