Health means optimism, cheerfulness, happiness, and the joy of living Key to Succes by Forbes And The tJouiniilM Events In The Valley County Planning Report Challenges Utah County to Do Something About It An aftermath of the County Planning conference held laat week In the challenge laaued this week by the report of S. R. Boawell, county agricultural agent, under the title: Know Your County". The following itatemcnta are made In thla report, which, according to Mr. Boawell are especially challenging" In their nature: Of 4,200 farm families In the couuty, S80 are on the relief rolls and 1,836 must find additional income other than from their farms. Of 6,100 families in the county, 1226 are on the relief rolls. With such facts known, Mr. Boswell Inquires into where their money la being spent. This is what he found: Only 444 farm families are without automobiles. Amount spent for moviea Is $61,750 In Utah county; amount apent for slot machines, $15,200; amount for liquor, $261,485.60; amount spent in the pool halls of the county, $17,250. Turning attention to another side of the picture, Mr. Boswell reports that only 50 per cent of all farms have adequate irrigation water supply In normal years, and only 5 per cent have an adequate supply In dry years. He found that total mortgages In the county reached $5,488,000 and that 50 per cent of the land bank mortgages were delinquent January 1, 1038. At the same time he found that only 41 per cent of all farmers plant tested seed, and that 20,250 acres of weeds exist In the county, adding 100 per cent to the cost of cultivation. He also found 712 vacant poultry houses on farms, and only 876 farmers engaged in iPROVOANS In The NEWS the Canadian mission. President A. Monroe Paxman si so addressed the conference.
