In addition li extra and other employes have been engaged to do delivery do. can untrained work which persons Fourth, Provo postal service has been above par in spite of all the rush. For example, a Provo girl working now in Salt Lake City (name on application) went to the Salt Lake post office Monday morning at 7 a. m. and stood in line until waited upon, getting away to her work'liarely in time at 9 a. m. Other people have complimented us on the extra services we are giving, such as J. R. Ilodson selling stamps out in the lobby so as to give those who want stamps only a chance to mail their letters and parcels without waiting in line. Others have appreciated the extra service of Albert Edwards stationed in the lobby as a look out man helping those who are strangers, or who want direction in other ways, and restoring lost or dropped parcels. Another example is the fact that not one day has passed until we have sorted and delivered every parcel arriving in the post office that day. Connecting trains have been met in time, and every Bender of Christmas ofparcels is assured that his or her gifts have left this as fice the same day posted. Furthermore, while Salt Lake City office announces mail posted after Thursday this week cannot be assured of being delivered before Christmas, we assure Provo people that mail posted here until noon Satnrday will be delivered by Saturday night, and that parcels and perishables will he delivered on Sunday and Monday. YVe ask the Herald if this is service. As proof of the gigantic task which has faced us, we submit here a summary of mails handled by us during the past few days, that is until Wednesday, Dec. 21 at noon when this report was made up. On Dec. 17 we sent out 193 bags of mail, containing 2,2GO separate parcels, of which 562 were insured parcels. This same day we received 151 bags of mail, sorted it, and delivered it. This is a sample of one days work, a rather light one at that. On Dec. 19 the volume grew to 226 hags sent nut and 233 hags received. Dec. 20 record was 267 bags sent out, and 281 received. But these hags represent merely the hulk mail. We sent out also 26,970 letters on Dec. 19 and 35,360 letters oil Dec. 20. TliiR does not include the thousands of incoming letters received, sorted, and delivered, nor does it include more than 2000 parcels delivered in Provo city, and hundreds of other parcels delivered on rural routes, nor more hundreds placed in post office boxes. For nearly two weeks we have maintained this service from 5 a. m. until 11 p. m. YVe lielieve the public, knowing that substitutions cannot lie made for trained employes, and that these hours represent actual hours of labor for most of them, will not criticize us. At any rate this is our record. YVe are willing to let the public judge of our service. We are working unitedly for this community, and are solidly behind our Postmaster, J. YYT. Dangerficld, in trying to give the very best service possible to Provo patrons. Provo Postal Employes. CITY BUY BRIEFS and SAVE AT Postmaster J. W.
