No U7S. lin at o tort Wfiao at or DESTRUCTION Statisticians have figured it out that the 1914 World war cost enough money to build every family in United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and most of the countries in Europe a $2500 home, fully furnished and equipped, and then have plenty of money left to build good schools, establish hospitals, universities, and libraries over the entire land. We are not so interested in whether these figures are correct or not, or in the details of what might be furnished, as we are that billions of dollars are again being spent for war, and that destruction is agBin on the rampage, and cities and lands are being laid waste, and millions of lives are being snuffed out deliberately by the hateful forces of war. The stunning thought also comes that money is Nations in somehow! available for all this destruction. Europe, unable to pay debts for the IaBt war, are ready and anxious to buy here now on a cash and carry" basis. Who is furnishing the money? Where does this money come from? At home, and abroad, for all other purposes not enough money exists, evidently for our needs. Workers who slave their lives away are unable to buy back the things they produce. Factories can run three shifts a day for war materials, but half time or less for goods to be used as shoes, clothing,' and food materials, in peace time. . Money is available to pay for huge armies of men, coating millions of dollars every minute, (Switzerland, : are told, spends $1,000,000 a day just to maintain her neutrality) and yet we lack money to employ men and women to build and operate schools, hospitals, municipal improvements, and all the thousand and one things so desirable for every community in the land. If these things could be done unemployment would cease to exist in this land, and in all other lands. Nations seem to have money to spend in killing youth and vigorous manhood but lack the funds to care for the sick, the destitute, the disabled, the old and the hungry people of the world. We are forced to ask again: Where does the money come from 7" Perhaps the people of this country should study MONEY instead of war and international politics. Sinister forces are in league behind the scenes manipulating markets, prices, factories, and regimenting every thing to the minutest detail in the lives of hundreds of millions of people. Those forces control money and credit? Our constitution gives that control to Congress, but does it yet retain that power? If Congress would control credit and the flow of money this nation could have money for production, and never a cent for destruction. we DEATH RIDES high-power- ed J' : 4- CHESTS METAL BED COIL SPRINGS MATTRESS ONLY 4 DRAWERS 24-I- ONLY $4.95 $13.95 J $38.50 SPRING -F- ILLED MATTRESS ROYAL A Perfect Sleeper Product SZt $4.95 City has charre of tha arrangements now being completed for the state convention of nurse, in Provo ProC.
