It is a source of no little satisfac- tion to the manager of The Gazette that this issue of the this paper printed by steam power and, with the most perfect mechanical outfit in Utah outside of Salt Lake and ening obstacles and bitter personal opposition which would have overwhelmed them long ago but for their strong faith in the eternal equites of destiny and the high consciousness of rectitude. It is the good high aim and righteous purposes of the tramp who came from the Lord knows where which stir mens minds, and not lies. And while this mysterious tramp guides the destinies of The Gazette with good in view, defending fairnesss and the peoples rights; while he publishes a paper that moulds public opinion for the better and serve the just interests of Provo and vacinity; while he pleases the masses mow and in the future moves the inmost souls of men in the right direction, it is not likely that the public will care very much to enquire whether he was a tramp or a prince years ago. Life is too short to permit any of us to stop and bury the ghosts which malice envy, jealousy, rivalry and vicious competition in business may conjure up from the distant and half forgotten past to thwart the noblest present endeavors or injure the best of men. The rock is easily worked and there is an abundant supply of native timber close at band, free of cost for timbering the tunnels, shafts and for ore houses and other buildings. A nice stream of water is handy, furnishing an abundant water to run a 610,000 concentrating mill, which is now ready for operation for concentrating the lower grades of ores. All kinds of work can be done cheaper in this camp than in any adjoining, and the mines are easily accessable. Ore can be got to the smelters which are handy, very cheaply as there is a regular down grade from the camp to the railroads, two lines of which are handy and reasonable rates are thus assured. The maxium rate for hauling ore from mines to the railroad Is 63.60 per ton, and 81.00 per fon from station to smelters. fbofertixs of tub treasure consolidated GOLD AMD SILVER MIMIMG CO. The Treasure mine lies in Miller Peak and adjoining the famous Miller mine. It is a 60x1,500 feet claim; has well defined vein of galena carbonate ore leading into the hill has been worked as follows: A 200 foot tunnel following the hanging wall, with an air shaft from a point 160 feet from entrance following a vein surface. Another upward lowing ore from o point 80 entrance. In the air shaft 25 feet from the tunnel is drift along ore; 60 feet below this tunnel is another tunnel running in 825 feet following the foot wall along a vein of ore in porphery. At a point 150 feet from the entaance is a 60 foot shaft following ore and connected with the upper tunnel; from this shaft is one drift of 85 feet out along an ore vein, and two of 15, one of 25 feet and one of 35 feet in aiong veins of ore. Also in line with this shaft is a shaft running down from tne tunnel along a vain of ore for 60 feet, at the bottom of which is an inward drift along a vein of ore 50 feet. Also at a point 75 feet further along the tunnel is an upward slope in good ore of 25 feet. It will thus be seen that there is about 950 feet of tunnels shafts and drifts in the mine, all of which are well timbered and in good condition. In addition to the above tools and a good spring of water be longing to the mine. Tbs ores thus far obtained from this mine are of very high grade, run ning from 60 to 500 oz. of silver to the ton, and 30 to 60 per cent lsad. The mine has shipped ore every season since it was opened; the last shipment in the fall of 1889. All veins of ore are well defined and leads towards the cont act which in dicate clearly the location of a large body of ore at that point. It is desired to push the lower tun nel in to the point of contact as fast as money can be raised. The best estimate ihdicates ttat the tunnel will have to be run in 200 fset further reach the contact and main ore body, This will require from 62,000 to 63,000 to complete the work with the necessary air shafts and drifts. It is deemed best not to slope the ore already sight but to push on to the main body first and than work the drtfts afterwards. . a District, the home of the famous Emma, Flagstaff, Richmond, South Star and other noted mines. But as all roads lead to Rome so do all ore veins in this localitv lead to Millers Peak, under whose broad base lies the great ore body which as it came from the heated mass below darted out in the various directions like the large limbs and branches of a hugh oak tree. In proof of this theory we have but to state that the famous Miller mine which is located in the peak from which it is named took out from one ore body in a short space of three months the enormous sum of 61000,000. The Sunday, Queen of the West and Wild Dutchman in the same locality have been rich producers and are still famous mines; the Milkmaid, Pittsburg and Bell. are well kbown mines, and the New Idea is another which shows rich in ore. OOTT mtooa: The magnificent mechanlchal repre- sentation of the City of Jerusalem it appeared before the day of Cruel flxion was presented to theFrovo public thie week. This marvelous piece of mechanics work is tbe result of twelve years study and toil at the hands of Mr. Miller, the builder, and a more perfect and interesting novelty has nsvsr before been exhibited in this or any other country. As the visitor enters tbe pavilion on Court House grounds he is shoe n a massive opposite Co-o-p, and beantifnl piece of carving, elaborately decorated in gold, marble and alabaster, and the structure ia fairly alive with animated figures of people and birds. The structure is fifteen feet high, twenty-fi- ve feet wide and weighs nearly two tons. Under a gorgeous archway is seen the city proper the City of Jerusalem, its courts and walls. The tower of Antonis, where was located the judgment hall, the palaces of Herod, David and Salomon and hundreds of other prominent buildings, while Mount Galvan seen in the distance. In front of the city is shewn the Mount of Oliver, the Brook Kedron end the Garden ol! Gethsemane. High priests are constantly passing through tha gatoa into tbe city. In the foreground Christ and the twelve apostles appear through a large meet a funeral procession gate and tbe body of the son of the widow of Naim. They all stop, and the place the bier on the ground, the ion apparently come to life, steps off the bier and goes to his mother, who places hsr arms aronnd him, and the entire group turn around and go home rejoicing instead of sorrowing, while the apostles pass through another gate and enter the city. Otner scenes fol low in rapid succession; the smith at his forge, hammering upon the heatec iron with real fire in his forge; tha potter making vessel! of clay, birds singing with natural voices; chimes ol' bells, etc. On the right shown the seige of Jerusalem by Titus at tha bead of the Romans, at which time the empire was destroyed. On the left is seen Solomen and his workmen building the temple. This is not a panorama, as some are led to believe, but areal city which, in its mechanical construction alone, is superior to any similar work ever built. Sven the Straaburg oiock, wftipb many have crossed the ocean to see, is e toy com pared with this wonderful work. There are so many intonating features that it is impossible to describe, and must be seen to be appreciated. The exhibition will be open afternoons and evenings until further notice. The admission Is only fifteen cents, and on Saturday cbilarsn will be admitted at 10 cents each. hr InMi EssMm, --In tb mat- detor of the estato of 'Louisa Kaufhold, ceased.
