Daniels of Provo Wins a Fortune We hope the citizens of Provo will have the courage and candor to everlastingly squelch the croakers who can never undertake any enterprise without attempting to tear something else down. Hardly a public enterprise has been started here for a year that somebody has not antagonized by wanting to promote its success at the expense of some one or something else. That is not the way to build up a town or to promote the general enterest. Anybody who has lived in Provo any length of time knows that the advance in prices of realty which has been caused by the investmen of outside capital has saved many a compartively poor man from falling into the hands of the ole mercenary ring here which hac literally got the gout from living too high off the people whom they hac either under mortgage or forced to pay tribute and whose property they were expecting to get for a' song ere long, when the arrival o the boom and capital from the outside placed their land up at such a fairly high price that many of those under bonds, mortgages or obligations of some kind were able to free themselves from the grasp of the old monopolists and that is why we have heard so much of late from certain quarters about realty prices being so high through the manipulations of new comers. The old monopolist ring here hardly has a motive that is no either mercenary or revengeful. I has always overflowed with coldblooded egotism and selfishness. It has met a repulse and is desperate. Palaver and scowls are now its chief prerogatives since i has justly lost its sordid and unmerciful grip. The people are now determine! to build up their own; they have ; ; ; 1890. C. F. Hull, .
