Clyde Friday told representatives of the mining industry that he will support a program to place domestic mining on a sound economic basis and to make this country as nearly as possible in production of essential minerals. He said he did not generally favor subsidies but recogjnized that under some conditions domestic industry must have some type of production. He added that he was not sympathetic to foreign producers "dumping" their production in this country when it is profitable and withholding it at other times.
