If there were no religious systems if peonle didn’t think I was there they didn’t believe then then why then there would be no me I would cease to exists!” He had become indignant and risen from his chair He looked “I just threatening wish there was something I could do with you young peoplel just I ” felt sorry for the old guy standing there sputtering within! “Does it pay to go to church? dignant rage I didn’t want to see I asked him cease to exist and I thought “Since I was here last it seems about not telling anyone about the that church has become pretty interview But then I realized good business It must by paying after he had dissappeared into smoke that belief rises out of somebody” he replyed smiling “Well what I meant was can the necessity to believe in some it make you a better person?” thing other than yourself and then “There isn’t nothing in church I knew that God was safe in that you can’t get right in your mans insecurity because who own home or out on the golf could possibly believe in their course or up in the mountains neighbor! just Does it Pay? I LITTLE MAN ON CAMPUS Not expecting to hear such from the person language I was seeking to contact I was so chagrined that I opened my eyes It was the guard Brief ly I tried to explain but he wouldn’t hear it and I soon found myself and my equipment out in the street Disgruntled and sad returned home Well that very night I had a dream about a huge neon sign which read “I am hip to what you desire and will be glad to grant you an interview tomorrow night at eleven” Signed Him that Knows All The next night I paced the floor nervously wondering what to expect it was almost eleven Suddenly up on the roof there arose such a clatter I sprang outside to see what the hell was on I There was nothing going there so I went back inside it was one minute to eleven I poured myself a cup of cof fee and sat down and watched the second hand sweep around the clock Suddenly there was a flash of light a cloud of dust and a puff of smoke and there He was He was smaller than I had ex pected standing about fivefive He was bald and had a small mus tache He looked a little tired like maybe he had been up all night listening to prayers or something Under his arm he carried what appeared to be a collapsable pool cue I was suddenly speechless and quite dumbfounded Finally he broke the ice I Dear Ed: I feel that it is about time for me to speak out and applaud the metamorphosis that is taking place here at USU I feel that we should take pride in the fact that we as students not only exist peacefully with our administration but work hand in hand in moving the role of the student to a more influential position in so called policy making This is the same goal that students all over the nation and even the world are presently striving for and I personally believe that more and better results are being witnessed through working together and not through sit ins stand ins love ins etc I read Mike Crippen’s article in Friday’s paper with interest and was impressed with some of his ideas but I know that he would have had a different perspective if he had only been actively partici pating and aware of the great strides that have been made in corro lating the efforts of students faculty and administration here on campus Pres Taggart Vice Pres Hansen and Stan Cazier and many many others are really actively interested in us as students and our ideas for a better university We are presently involved in the Staters Council where feedback is constantly being felt between students and administrators Many decisions that were before considered only by the administration are now jointly discussed and resolved And then what happened when student senate requested the seating of one student on the various administrative and faculty committees? The faculty senate wasn’t satisfied They voted for two voting student members on each of the committees Yes progress is being made and I for one am proud to be a part of it The present lack that I feel on this campus is not but students Now is the time for us as students to stand up and show the administration what kind of university we want We should apply for positions on the committees we should talk to our faculty and administrators and yes we should let them know what we desire If we do not do this then we cannot expect them to read our minds and give us our every wish How many students say they want a voice in the university policies and yet when given a chance to constructively use this voice they can not find the time To facilitate the necessary communication and find out how the students faculty and administration feel about the present status of our undergraduate life in general the House of Critics will be held in the Sunburst Lounge Thursday Feb 27 at 12:30 This meeting will feature administrators faculty and students and every one is invited to share their comments and suggestions The administra tion is willing to work for us if we can just decide what it is that we want to make our campus The purpose of this first meeting will be to set up an agenda of items pertinent to discussion for future Houses of Critics The future of this university is important to me and I am assured that if we as students have constructive sug gestions they will be looked into and then implemented if it is for the betterment of the university in educating it’s students in all aspects of life KEN ANDERSEN 020000600 ASUSUAd Vice Pres It’s Him "TALK A50UT TE'R FP?UZ FO UStlEKS o Published tri weekly during the school year except during t" '"union by the Associated wersity holidays and final exam week fees Union 315 Business off pg Editorial offices r® Dondence and change of address would- be a pr PfK Subscribtion Box 1242 University Station Logan Utah 84321 at quarter S3 per year Entered for second class postage in Logan Utah Ajvlftiiin9 Educationa by National Represented for national advertising endofi Service 340 Lexington Ave New York NY 10017 y imply necessa Advertising material presented herein does not ment by this newtpaper yf do The opinions expressed on the editorial pages of The the University necessarily represent the view of fhe student body ° Administretion KAREN "Say that coffee smells good mind if I have a cup?” he said quietly His voice was astoud ing It carried immense power and truth I was sure it was Him After he was seated comfort ably I began “I hope I haven’t inconvenienced you Mrah mean ah” "You may call me said pleasantly does” God” he “everyone else "No you haven’t put me out” he continued “in fact you hit me just right I was just passing through here on my once every one hundred years visit I can’t stay very long though so let’s ton EDITOR-IN-CHIE- MANAGING BUSINESS F MANAGING MANAGER SALES — zzz EDITOR ASSISTANT ADVERTISING CHIEF COPY TONY BUSH ‘ — Editor Sport Editor Art Editor Society Fine Artist Photogre pher Circulation Columnists — Craig Hiilop J J Platt Rich Kohutek E O Chlma Pramod - - MANAGER i5S '‘Tv EDITOR SALES EDITOR arnone MARILTN — — STAR lTS L- -Chris ‘ Hdr paton — am w CM Carls®" 1 Bob Glacovelll Lynn Kulkarni Fati WanrJy Pr' Reporters: Winn Wendell Kathie Bicknell Shirley Eatla"di Grant Prohman Pam Bullock Virginia Martinai 9 Parry Susan Williams G Grag Hansan Tarry Mosar Snow HEATH oAVE CO-O- ' - S ZAU6® Stahl “ OP (levinl |
