Show THE AG CLUB LINK BOYS FARM UTAH ENCAMPMENT WAS GREAT With five other boys from our high school was fortunate enough to be delegated to I attend the Utah Farm Boys Encampment Utah State Fair grounds at Camp Hogenson State Fair during the our traveling evpenses were paid and also all of our other expenses while at the encampment Our tent was plenty All of for the twelve boys that slept in it and it was wonderful sport to be sleeping in a real army tent There were large enough or seven other tents besides ours at the six Our meals were served in encampment style and they were sure some There was just enough excitement real camp meals at to make us good and hungry meal time Part of our time was spent in our exhibits at the fair which consisted of model work shops electrical machinery and work gas engines engineering wireless farm exhibits telegraphy clothing caponizing milk testing seed testing kinds of agricultural work demonstrations various and We also assisted in judging stock and grain people seemed very well pleased with our exhibits and much interest was shown The many questions asked and I heard one only wish that Dan enjoyed like other boys do and went and woman say “I school learned some of I these things” heard gentlemen saying that they wished they could have had such opportunities several when they were boys AG CLUB BALL The news had been circulated that the Ag Club was to have charge of the Student Body meeting Wednesday October 19th As per usual the Ag Club members assembled enmass and assumed a position in the choir seats on the rostrum The purpose of the program was to formally introduce the Ag Club to the Student Body and to boost the football rally to be held down town Friday night President Deihl of the Student Body made a few announcements and then turned the meeting over to President Heywood of the Club who elaborated on the purpose of the “Oh boy! look at those lights — and the brush and trees” remarked a masculine meeting Bill “Sprotto” Bowman our cheer leader then danced back and forth accross the floor to the tune of a few Ag Club yells which were naturally more humorous than well given Lemon our star performer cn the ivories settled us down while he rendered two classics A double quartette composed of club members than tried to satisfy us with one song but they did not succeed as their next number went over even better than did the first Mr While the crowd was still clamoring for more music Prof D E Robinson was introduced as speaker of the day The object of his speech was to show us what a wonderful foot ball team we have this year To do this he began by telling what a green bunch of players we used to have According to what Prof Robinson said I believe the San Francisco earthquake occurred as a result of winning a game from the Idaho Tech that fall Anyway it was quite a shock to the entire west whenever the A ‘'The reason we C won a football game didn’t win a game” he said “was becm-brawn and not brains was the basis on which the team was selected” Unless a man weighed 240 pounds the coach couldn t e races were exciting and of interest Several auto racers crashed into the fence “But during the last few broken and years the heef trust has been this years team combines brawn and brains and tore things up in such was good With Prof guide we C D The wild west show Steiner as leader and went on excursions to candy factories (a fine place to go) manufactur-n- g establishments Deseret Gym pool Pan-tagand many other places of interest es If there is to be another encampment next year I want to go 3 AG CLUB PROGRAM even see him The Page all proportions that we have won our games and the prospect looked good for the conference championship” The way the Student Body applauded the wanted him to spakcr sounded as if they Robinson is so give an encore but Prof modest lie wouldn t consent The meeting ended with a few rottsmg led by yells from the entire Student Body lie aforesaid “Sprotto" and Victor lindldad led in singing the school song voice “Isn’t it perfectly exquisit” almost screamed a feminine voice Aggie joy seekers were coming to the big annual Ag Club hall and now they wrcre entering the dance hall which had been transformed into a mountain sceen ol tran-cende- nt irregularity The hall had been so uniquely and originally decorated that it was a happy surprise to everyone who came A mammoth spider web made of twine and deer brush stretched from one end of the hall to the other and appeared to be an enchanting ceiling Spruce and cedar trees between which were hung ferns and flowers were placed in artistic order around the walls The lights which had been subdued by colored crepe paper presented a soft pleasing glow which smiled on the whole scene The music sounded out and the hall became lively with buoyant activity The harmony was so blended so pleasing and irresistible that the frolickers took on an appearance of flitting butterflies over the meadows Not a “wall flower” was to he found and even the spruce and cedar trees over against the wall could not resist luf stood there quivering with joy And now for a drink The refreshment booth was so attractive in appearance besides what it held in store that it presented a corner of monopolistic popularity After a refreshing drink of the delicious view from tin punch probably a bird’s-ey- e balcony It was surely a seem of inexplicable elation The girls dressed so briefly were indeed butterflies and were interspersed with an equal number of dark colored moths The spider web the spruce and cedar trees the ferns and flowers all clothed in a soft mellow glow of light were more than pleasing to look at Everybody felt that it was a perfect night The Committees who worked so hard to make the ball a success were Alan Cannon chairman Emery Ranker decorations Irvin Henric refreshments Peter Johnston programs and music and Bill Bowman ticket advertisments and floor o NOW’S THE TIME To send in your essay arid win one of the C handsome medals offered by the U A will find the Ag Club On page four you rules of the contest You can win if you try |
