Show STUDENT LIFE P24 i I t of the festive strawberry by a special medley of college and popular songs Arriving finally at BalifTs Cafe a hot chicken supper was devoured and then everybody “repaired” to the Hillman homestead where the “shower” proper was consummated Many useful and beautiful presents were given among them a handsome dinner set from the Soro-si- s After a while everybody threw rice mutilated a song and after dispensing a hearty “Gutcn Xacht” departed their many ways t Smart-Pozvc- ll For a month or so past we have been noting the fact that our congenial friend Jean Francois Millet Powell (artist tuba stoker and stage manager) has been very much concerned in those drawings of Cupid and his escapades in Life We could not understand why Powell should be so interested in that line of aesthetic development when his work in the past for the most part has been confined to still life work mostly tavern scenes and greenwood trees Finally one day we received a nice formal announcement that Don was going to forsake his past mode of living and take unto himself a wife Well he did it did it on the night of the band concert before the holidays lie deserted his comrades and left his old friend the “tuba” setting alone in a dark corner of Prof Thatcher’s office bewailing the fact that Don had deserted his first love and found a second in the person of the daughter of one of the trustees of the college We have gone on this far and not mentioned any names except Don’s The present Mrs Powell was formerly Miss Mada Smart daughter of Trustee Smart and is an accomplished young lady She graduated from the L D S Uni-T versity last year You all know Sockwell and we suppose there is nothing left to do except to wish the new couple a long happy and prosperous life with no matrimonial pitfalls in their way They are at home to their friends at 231 South Main 0 |
