Ewart concentrates on establishing a positive rapport with her students by concentrating on learning who her students are as people while she leaches them that history is a story of hemes villains war and peace This has contributed to her winning the outstanding faculty member award for the third time in four years Site won her first award after her first year of teaching in I ‘M2 She received the award the following year and again for the 1993-9- 4 school year She feels that the outstanding faculty award is (he best award a teacher can receive because the winner is chosen by the students She wanted to clarify that she did not win the award because of giving students “As" in her classes She is not an easy teacher “I demand a level of excellence from my students" She feels that by taking her classes students will excel at four year universities because they will be better readers writers and thinkers Before coming to the College of Eastern Utah Ewan received her master's degree in a holistic approach to striking the balance between development and preservation of the planet She said the environmental studies program at ('Ell is only one of its kind in I Itah because of the
