informed that they were named second in the nation lor junior colleges and 28th overall One of the meets that helped them attain the national ranking last season was strong showing at the prestigious Pasadena Meet Therefore they had high expectations tor a repeat pcrtormance at this year's Pasiulcna Meet held last weekend The team walked away with two trophies and six other awards 1 from the stiff California competition on November The CEDA team of Dustin Latimer and Dcrald Latimer took third place overall in their division The duo interpretation team of Aimee Anderson and Nathan Coulter tied for third place while Walkenhorst placed fourth overall in impromptu speaking In addition Brian Hall Daniel Espcrson and Walkenhorst also received awards for their excellent performances However despite the disappointing outcome of the Pasadena meet this year’s team has already surpassed last year's in trophy count mostly due to the outstanding performance of their showing at the SUSC Tournament on Nov The speech team returned from Cedar City with 23 trophies and a first place showing for junior colleges and third overall missing second place by two points All six finalists in each event earned a trophy In programmed oral interpretation Espcrson placed first Troy Hunt second and Walkenhorst placed fifth In informative speaking Hunt was third and Coulter sixth Jennifer Olsen placed fourth in poetry and Hall fifth in dramatic interpretation Anderson placed fifth and Hunt sixth in communication analysis Walkenhorst took fifth and Brian Dawes sixth in after dinner speaking In debate the teams of Latimer and Anderson and Dawes and Espcrson tied for third place Hall was named one of the top five speakers in senior debate CEU won five awards for junior speakers who performed best in each event: Hunt in informative Hall in dramatic Walkenhorst in after dinner speaking Olsen in poetry and Esperson in programmed oral interpretation Missing the final rounds of their
