Show THE GOLDEN Page Two CEU A EAGLE Friday March Glorified High School Minutes So what docs this make us? Active students on a modem college campus? Not in my opinion! Students that will not make a college better with participation make it nothing more than a glorified high school Unlike high school we are not required to attend assemblies so who goes? Unlike high school the representatives of the student council read the events of the meeting in the home rooms In college no (me even bothers to read the Senate Minutes We are a modem college in that we are given the freedom to act like mature people We are less than that in that we do not use what we have I have purposefully written this article mildly But I hope that it is not too mild I hope that it makes a few people mad mad enough to do something about it Terry Gilson Asst Editor Support Your Local Flick By Mary Donaldson It is the policy of CElTs studentbody officers to provide two activities on campus each week as long as it is financially possible and can be scheduled as such One of these weekly activities is a movie shown each Wednesday in the Geary Theater The officers have done their best to obtain the most and entertaining films available within the budget The better the films naturally the more expensive they are and the more we order the greater the cost so a twenty-fiv- e cents admission charge is asked to help meet e this expense As you can see the officers need the support of the studentbody if this campus activity is to be continued We invite you out every Wednesday night at 8:00 pm to the Geary Theater for a good film and lots of fun All In All It was Fun! By Lynn Jaquhh What makes up a Rodeo Club trailridc? Fun excitement good food danger and saddle sores It all started at 9 am on Saturday Feb 21 when fourteen of us set out from the Fosse Corrals The first mishap occurred when Harriet Mangus suddenly found herself dangling from her horse's neck After righting herself we ambled on to the airport pond then headed north Camp was set up by Bill Peterson After eating our food and listening to the cowboys describe Carl Hunscn's good (?) horse and his good (?) riding style we headed for Kenilworth Traveling down a dugway this dude fell off Brushing myself off we continued down to Kenilworth and then up another dugway Since we were headed for some of us wanted to get faster Toni Bottino and 1170 Final Exam I just picked up an excharge paper from Fort Lewis College in Colorado One article really struck me hard Two of their student senators put a motion before the senate to disband the senate on the grounds of not representing the students The Senate President told these senators that in the case of their attitude they shou'd teum in a resignation from the Senate And on the spot these two senators gave oral resignations— on the grounds that they did not feel that the senate was representing the studentbody but only the Senate Don't get we wrong I don't advocate disbanding the Senate They are doing the best job they know how But I thought that Fort Lewis College was a striking comparison to CEU I never could see a CEU officer or student for that matter really stand up and voice an opinion or do something that might be contrary to accepted opinion— right or wrong I know that there are some students at CEU who are real thinkers who have many worthwhile opinions that could and ought to be voiced But general student apathy is a stronger belief than student opinion The topic of apathy is so overused that students pro' ably s?v "Oh no not the same old story again" But how many active study's are there at CEU? How many come to the assemblies how many participated in the AWS Week activities? How many student evr read the Senate Minutes to see what our student government is d ing? Twelve people attended the AWS Bingo Party for examp'e A handful of students attend the assemblies Less than that read the Scn:t: up-todat- C Price there Nancy Robertson found that galloping without their saddlebclts fastened is hazardous After bouncing several times on and off the horse Toni ended up in a hole Nancy landed on a rock She was out for about ten minutes then sat up and asked "where am I?"
