Show Jones Reviews Fall Term Highlights Dr (In response to a request by the Carbonicle President Jones sent in the following report as the administrative view of the quarter now drawing to a close) Now that the autumn quarter is about over I have been asked to give my impressions concerning the accomplishments of the school My first impression is that school has gone along pretty well We have a 16 increase in the enrollment of college students and most of them are doing well in their classes A few have dropped out for one reason or another Among the 419 tenth graders in Carbon county schools last year h failed to get a grade average of "C" in their 80 or almost first two years of high school Among these 80 are several who have mental ability to do "11” work in school but only a few of them have awakened this year and have done better workIf we locus our attention on these this large group of poor students makes the junior class as a whole look poor but also among this class are eight who straight "A" averages and 101 who averaged "B" Nearly all of these are continuing to do good work and give a better color to the whole junior class I hope that every student will be aroused to do hix best in classes activities have gone along pretty well alOur though a poor football schedule for both teams bad weather and the loss of most of our games have combined to put football in both divisions financially far into the red This loss of income will force us to be very careful of all expenditures in other departments in order to finish the year in a solvent condition The loss of football games is not disturbing to me and won’t be so long as I feel that our men have done their best and have played the game fairly Homecoming activities as I stated in our daily bulletin were very satisfactory in every way I'm still hoping that students will develop pride in their school and help us keep our halls rooms and grounds in better shape Aaron E Jones one-fift- extra-curricul- ar Wallflowers By Geraldine Sweetring Everyone comments on pretty flowers those' that are picked and arranged for parties corsages and the like those lhat grow wild in the fields or are cultivated alongside homes Wherever they grow flowers are pretty They arc quiet and say nothing just grow for the enjoyment of people A wallflower is a prime example of a flower She may be charming pretty well dressed and quiet Because she is so quiet she often is not given a chance She would do almost anything to be picked as a class officer to have a date fur the prom or be on the publications staff But she says nothing She is one of the “voiceless” and lives to herself because she is shy Did you know that Marilyn Monroe was once one of the loneliest girls in her town?
