The answer is up to you Some things you ought to think about arc what opportunities for recreation you now have how they may be improved what new opportunity you should like to suggest what recreation the churches might afford and what more can the schools do in addition to what they arc doing Well Kids any suggestions? Since the ball season will end about the time the dance concert will come off I'm sure the boys arc not worried about losing top billing The boys I'm sure can understand the Dance Club's interest in practicing os much as possible so as to present a creditable perfor- mance By the same token the boys wish to practice enough so as to perform in a manner which will be a credit to all concerned For when they are on the court they are not only showing their talents and achievements but carry with them the reputation of Dee 12 1952 LOSES OPENER CARBON Carbon high hoopsters overcame a 16 to 0 first quarter deficit to come in six points of beating Pay-so- n High in a game played at Payson last Saturday night After the final buzzer sounded the score was 41 to 35 in Payson's favor Cal Joansclme led the Carbon scorers with 15 points The Junior Varsity won their game by the score of 40 to 35 indication of the misunderstanding that many students and probably some teachers have of our marking system There should be no case where a student's scholarship mark is lowered because of absence due to illness Our plan is to decrease the attendance mark by 2 per cent for each day of absence due to illness until it equals the class or scholarship mark but to decrease it no further If teachers do this then no student will be hurt by his attendance mark when many days were absent because of illness The attendance mark may get so low as not to help a student but it should never hurt him Of course if the same student were truant a few times in addition his final mark may be lowered drastically but you see a student doesn’t have to be truant That is a luxury for which he should be willing to pay in full Probably a few students whose attendance was high did get some higher marks than they earned but the big majority of students who enjoy school enough to be present at classes every day are also putting forth a good effort in their studies Not very many such students get unrealistic marks AARON E JONES FOR A REAL TREAT COME TO THE— SPUDNUT SHOP TRICE their school SIIORO BUDO GIVE THE GIFT THAT WILL BE KEPT FOR YEARS TO COME VISIT— SUNNIE STUDIO KELLEY’S LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor: Marie Buckley's article in the "Carbonicle" of December 5 is an FOR HAIR STYLES ESPECIALLY FOR YOU COME TO THE— DRUG CO SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOUNTAIN— LUNCHES THE STYLART PRICE PRICE 1 PRICE EAST MAIN UTAH |
