members plan to take field trips to various daces of geological Interest when :hc weather breaks The club will also cut and polish various types of stones collected on these field trips Additional training in' use of electronic instruments to detect certain minerals will also be emphasized in the training Other officers elected were John Zarkis and Gus Hernandez publicity chairman Members of the club include Gary Watt Raymond Gunderson Jack Hill George Polve George Myer Paul ' Dupin John Jones Ruth Bunderson and Roger Davis Duchess A vice-preside- MISS SUNTER Miss Loretta Sunter has beer named Duchess of the Golden Eagle Chapter of Intercollegiate Knights' at Carbon College Charles Menzies honorable duke of the fraternity announced this week Miss Sunter was chosen from candidates nominated by the members at a special meeting Personality talent and beauty were the attributes that won Miss Sunter the title Duchess Loretta along with all chapter duchesses in the Utah area will compete in a regional contest March 5 on the BYU campus The regional duchess to be chosen from the candidates will enter national competition at Pocatello In early April Lambda Delta Holds Formal of the Great Books of the Western World a set of 54 volumes spanning western thought from Homer to Freud The collection contains 443 works by over 70 authors All the known works of 21 of the authors are Included Over 100 scholars engaged in the editorial preparation of the set for a period of eight years at a cost of $2000000 'The unique contribution of this set is the Syntopicon two volumes which are worth the price of admission to the rest of the set" Included in the two volumes are 102 Great Ideas broken down in about 3000 subtopics The idea for the Syntopicon is the brain child of Mortimer Adler and represents 400000 man-houof reading to index the ideas It is through the use of the Syntopicon that the reader is enabled to make scientific use of the vast store of knowledge
