Aviation U Team to Visit Visits Carbon Carbon Campus Price was one of six communities visited this spring by the colorful University of Utah Concert Band whose spring tour took the group on a three-da- y concert playing trip during the students’ spring vaca tion The Price concert sponsored by Carbon College took place in the Geary Theater on March 21 The program was carefully planned to appeal to varying musical tastes Original compositions for band Broadway show tunes and rousing Sousa Marches were included in the itinerary The University Concert Band under the direction of Professor Forrest D Stoll is one of the oldest musical organizations on the University of Utah campus It was organized in 1908 and made its first tour as a concert organization in 1947 The band draws its members from all colleges of the University Other cities included in the tour were Spanish Fork Pleasant Grove and Green River Utah and Fruita and Grand Junction in Colorado This is the first year the Concert Band has made an appearance in the state of The Naval Aviation Information Team from the US Naval Air Station Oakland California will visit the campus at Carbon College on May 2 1961 to explain the Navy's outstanding careers in aviation that are available to all young college men Lieutenant Commanders Walt Bethel Hulme and McGreevy Glen Stokes accompanied by Don Cambum ADI will conduct interviews and answer questions about all the aviation programs offered the young college man aboard the modem Naval Aviation Information Van The van is attractively equipped with aviation displays and the latest models of naval aircraft The four-yecollege man is eligible to apply for the Aviation Officer Candidate Program He must be between the ages of 19 and 86 meet the mental and quartered four to a unit and take turns with cooking shopping and point-l- y "clean up" in their respective apartments in anticipation of weekly inspection The girls have an executive council made up of a representative from each apartment with Dorothy Robb elected as the representative for the college Housing Committee Executive Council meetings are held once everv two weeks each time in a sponsoring dances after games Coming up in April is an assembly of Phi Kappa Phi national scholastic honorary society Invitations were extended to 47 members of the 1961 graduating class at Utah State University according to Helen Lundstrom Phi Kappa Phi secretary at the university Harry Ilalamandaris and Mrs Janice Siggard Price and Mrs former Margaret Alger Olsen resident of Elmo Utah were tapped for membership Eligibility requirements provide that a member must be graduated in the top five per cent of his class in scholarship Mrs Siggard and Mrs Olsen are graduating from the College of Education Mr Ilalamandaris from the Engineering De- partment Carbon College Plans Interior Decorating Parley An interior decoration institute be held at Carbon College April 10 and 11 for all
