Show THE CARBONICLE VOLUME 19 CARBON COLLEGE PRICE UTAH FRIDAY VOCALISTS PRESENT Pace Indian Collection Priceless At Carbon College in the library is a priceless collection of Indian artifacts which required 25 years to gather Paul Ilarvey Pace became interested in Indian relics as a very small boy and made it his life’s hobby To say that his collection came only from the United States would be wrong as there is one item that was found near the Great Wall of China Other items came from Oregon Illinois Nevada California New Mexico and in Utah from the Utah Lake area and from the Buck Horn country cast of Huntington The buffalo soup spoon the leg-giand the drum sticks as well as the moccasins and headband are from the Crow Indian reservation in Montana One of the peace pipes came from the Ouray reservation in Colorado the other from White Rocks in Uintah county In this collection there are approximately 3500 arrow points The large black spear head is of particular interest as it was uncovered by road crews while digging six feet deep in Echo Canyon It was used for some time as a paper weight in a bank The knife also has an interesting story Half of it was found and an interval of two weeks passed before the other half was discovered near the same location Both the Old and the New Stone Ages are represented in the collection according to Dr Henry A Pace Harvey’s father To estimate the money value of the treasure would be difficult as it would be impossible to replace it Dr Pace who has had many offers to sell it gave it to Carbon College as a memorial to his son ns 7 Fashion Expert ASSEMBLY By Virginia Wise Number NOVEMBER 6 1953 School singers under the direction of Mr Melvin Orgil presented the Carbon College Girls’ Glee Gub and Mixed Chorus in a delightful assembly this morning The Girls’ Glee sang “The Lord’s Prayer” "My Hero” "To a Wild Rose” "Jonah Swallowed the Whale” and "Summer Time” accompanied by Geneva Larsen The chorus then rendered "The Lost Chord” and "Goodnight Sweetheart” with Judy Pitts at Coming Next Week to Miss Venus clothing teacher Miss Geraldine Gale Educational Stylist or Simplicity Patterns will be lore next Friday to present a fashion show for Carbon women The show titled "Fashion Jingles for the Modern Miss” will prove this little jingle: Teens of our times who love to Me-on- as According sew be Fashion-RigWill and in Specialty numbers were "Prayknow!
