By ANN GIBSON REBA KEELE GEORGE PEACOCK TomcMmes the campus and surrounding buildings of Carbon ColReba is a living example of the Perhaps one of the best known lege remind one of the p'ayground of a grade school during school will of Carbon's male population is “student succeed” who Her so one loud on been disturbances the that have hours campus Lately wonders whether students have forgotten they are not still children We realize college students arc entitled to some fun so the campus has Wn designed ‘o offer faciliMes for each student's need The library is open to all students who wish to sudy or read magazines and papers and for those students who wish to gather in groups to carry on a conversation cafeteria facilities are available at all hours as a gossip-stud- y opportunity Students who desire to use up excessive energy may do so in the student lounge — where games and TV are available However studen's who want to carry on snowball fights or indulge in other playful activities that involve loud laughter should use the baseball or too hall field where there is plenty f snow and where noise of the activities will not disturb other stude holding classes Students Help Librarians activities are many and varied She has served as secretary of the Associated Women Students student forensics manager and copy editor of the yearbook Recently she portrayed the role of Cassandra in the college play “Tiger at the Gates” In the field of speech she has excelled winning first place in the impromtu speaking contest at the Western States Meet in Bakersfield California last year She was also of the college homecoming Reba has many interests She is especially interested in reading She likes books of all types She is enthusiastic about sports With the exception of some rock and roll she enjoys all types of music especially Her future plans are to finish college and teach debate on the high school level Reba has made an outstanding scholastic record She has been awarded the National Merit Scholarship She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Keele of Emery Star Route Price Utah well-round- ed with the student Students at Carbon College have librarians since the school librarian Miss Helen Wilson was accidentally burned early in January Some students have been so helpful that they have restacked books for the student help (without replacing the lender cards) The studentbody on the whole has been quiet and orderly while in the library and has used the hall for studying not conversational purposes Use of library facilities has remained at about the same level for the school year This is a tribute to the librarian to know that her work is carried on so efficiently during her absence Student librarians who have carried on the work are John Ilenrie Susan Worthen Irene Taka-haskand Jolene Bonocd i library Serves Useful Purposes semi-classic- al Testimonial Held By JIM LUPO IIow to get the most use out of the library is the student’s biggest task during his freshman and sophomore years in college To most students libraries are secluded places where notes are compared assignments are completed and next chapters are read but the most important thing in the library whether or not students realize it is the book The average book weighing no more than two pounds presents more problems than meets the student's eye The attitudes that students are seeking to develop can be found in the library to a certain extent The students should learn to know the library and the books since the minds of students need physical :iscs if progress is to be made Assembly Attendance Below Average By LYNWOOD WILLIAMS Where are the students of Carbon College at 10 am on Thursday?
