Last year in Utah, from October to May, there were held 700 classes in 80 different subjects. The enrollment of adults was 13,000, with an attendance of 10,000. This year a large proportion of these adults have returned, eager for further advancement, and they are bringing their neighbors with them. They recognize that here is an opportunity, open to everybody, to obtain free of cost, training in all of the important branches, to gain insight into public affairs, to prepare for citizenship (1) to study arithmetic, sewing, handicraft, decorative art, drawing, painting, vocal and instrumental music (2) to build vocabulary and learn ease in the use of language, from handwriting, spelling, grammar and English construction to literature, story and poetry writing, speech, public speaking, dramatics and the kindred subjects, psychology and salesmanship, in short, to broaden their lives in all cultural ways. In Salt Lake City .these classes are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p. m., at the following high schools: Bryant, 745 East First South; Irving, 1179 East 21st So.; Lincoln, 1241 South State; Horace Mann, 233 West First North, and Jordan, 1040 West Sixth South.
