Everything that humanity has that is good and benefits mankind most came about through the vision of thosewho hac the courage and strength to go ahead and execute those ideas that were revealed to them. For generations as old as the earth those men gone before us grasped ideas through visions and were inspired by them to go forward and build and to do things that have benefited mankind from generation to generation. Today we are living in the most wonderful age of human history. We are enjoying all lines of human endeavor in greater abundance than any generation of people who lived before us. Here in Utah we have built homes and go about our daily tasks and seldom give any thought to what an abundance of wealth the state has in the way of natural resources. Nature has been lavish. Nearly everything is found here in the way of minerals, chemicals, soils, forests, mountains and valleys. All that is needed is development of these resources For the benefit of mankind. We need men and women with vision to see the great pos (Continued on page 3) 'Rigid Curb'Aotied For Anti-Unio-n Employers f ' " KENNETH G. CRAWFORD WASHINGTON Developments of the last month in Washington add up only one conclusion: American business is as unappeasable as Hitler. New Dealers, prodded by John Hanes and Harry Hopkins, have all but turned themselves inside out demonstrating the sincerity of their attempt to give the business community what it wants. But business remains unconvinced. Markets refuse to respond. Either business is what Charlie Curtis told an audience of Iowa farmers they were in the 1928 campaign, too damned dumb to understand, or it is actually so determined to ruin Roosevelt that it is willing to subordinate profits to principles. Students of business behaviorism discount the second possibility. The fact is, whether business believes it or not, that Hopkins, Hanes, and company are desperately trying to surrender to Wall Street on something like reasonable terms. Perceiving that the irresistible reactionary swing which started in the 1938 election is still on, the more politically minded of the New Dealers have decided to (Continued on Page 5) IQ) Some smart Alec propagandist for the Wall Street banks and insurance companies has been telling reactionary farmers that the way to make things prosperous for farmers is to make it tough for the workers in the city. That some reactionary farmers have fallen for this bunk Hitler-lik- e is shown in the drastic legislation, sponsored and supported by Main street farmers in the legislatures of a number of states. The smart Alec propagandist who has brought the reacpolicies is a combination tionary farmer to his foolish anti-labmillionaire-owned farm journals of daily newspapers, and Republican politicians. Who is it that hops up the farmers? If a leader of farm cooperative is for shackling the workers then the farmers better find out why their leader is attacking their best friend in order to serve the' farmers worst enemies, the Wall Street banks, the insurance companies, and the labor and farmer hating employer organizations. And if a chosen spokesman for a farmers organization favors and advocates, the chaining of the workers in the city, the farmers had better ask him why he is attacking the best customers the farmers have for the benefit of the most dastardly enemies the farmers have. If president of the Farm Bureau and leaders of other farm organizations favor chaining and persecuting labor, the best friend of the farmers ever had, then it is time for the farmers to find out whether such leaders are farm leaders or slaves anti-labo- r. or so-call- ed '- (Continued oh page 8) Housed Cczz::t By M. WASHINGTON Senator Bob Reynolds of North Carolina seems to be edging out of the Democratic party to head a movement apparently to make America safe for Hitler ism. The start was made on January 24, when Reynolds extolled the virtues of dictatorships in general and concentration broadcamps for the unemployed in particular in a nation-wid- e cast.
