The union has scored a definite victory, said Wm. P. Mahan, union president, declaring that the few companies which had not signed up would soon do so. The strike was called as a result of a referendum and many companies came to terms in time to avert a walkout. Powers Hapgood, secretary of the New England C. I. O. Council, announced that the C.I.O. would cooperate with any of the shoe unions that wish to amalgamate in one united union, under the program which the C.I.O. has helped to draw up. The ma- terial is brought from the quarry to Sunnyside by aerial tram, where it is milled and prepared for paving roads. It is being ued extensively throughout the state at the present time for new road construction and is found to be the best and most economical road material in the world. Anyone who has driven over Carbon County roads and felt the resiliency it gives will appreciate this fact. Indications are that Rock Asphalt will soon be in extensive demand for other uses. Carbon County is also noted for its large livestock industry. It has many ranches of vast proportions. For example, the Nutter holdings run thousands of head of cattle and pay taxes on many sections of land. The sheep industry runs, not second, but on a par with cattle in Carbon County. There are many herds of thousands of head of sheep ranged in Carbon County and this industry contributes in large measure to the wealth of the country. Carbon County also has a modern aviation field and hangar constructed of Carbon County stone, which will last many years. It has excellent possibilities of becoming a link in transcontinental airlines, and we expect to have daily air connections with Salt Lake City and other points, in the very near future. , Courtesy of CARBON COUNTY COMMISSION ' W.
