Show UTAH LABOR NEWS, SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, APRIL 2 OGDEN - CENTER OF AGRICULTURE pie, until their fears and hatreds are aroused by the propaganda of someone who wants to make money out of that hatred. When war PAYS no one, It will be easier for the common people in all lands to bring pressure to bear on those negotiations for peaceable adjustment of differences. Agriculture and horticulture crops in this region, of which Ogden is the center, are vitally diversified. Yet it holds unlimited possibilities for greater achievement. Major farm crops include potatoes, tomatoes, sugar beets, onions, alfalfa and grain. Orchards contribute apples, peaches, cherries, apricots, pears and small berries. In addition, truck garden crops thrive in the rich canyon soil in certain parts, including peas, lettuce, cabbage, celery, melons, etc. The section to the north of Ogden is particularly noted for its fruit, farms. This district grows fine Elberta peaches, apricots and cherries. To the west of Ogden, sugar beets, early potatoes and tomatoes . are the chief crops. The area to the south produces potatoes, sugar beets, apples, cherries, apricots and tomatoes. To the east of Ogden rise the peaks of the Wasatch, picturesque, snow-cla- d Mount Ogden towering hundreds of feet above its neighbors, flanked on the north by Ogden canyon with its river, and south by Weber canyon and the river which bears its name. These and other streams fall from the canyons to supply the life giving element to communities in the valleys below. Small, prosperous farm communities have also been established on mountain fields formed by the widening of the canyons at various points. 5, 1935.
