ID 'DTjaey SCHOOL BUSING Recently we presented the yiews of Presidential candidate George Wallace. (March 7). In this issue we present the views of incumbent Gerald . Ford and his Republican challenger, Ronald Reagan. Candidates cannot be judged merely on what they say. Actions speak louder than words. When President Ford speaks about holding down Federal spending, for example, we must bear in mind the huge deficits he has accumulated. Ronald Reagan, on the other hand, did avoid deficit spending as Governor of California. For many years Presidential candidates have been running on a platform of law and order.' Yet the only area under federal jurisdiction is Washingtin, D.C., where the government has failed miserably to cut down on crime. A fundamental mistake on the part of politicians is to think they can do so much more than they can do. A basic mistake on the part of voters is to think the same way. Bearing that in mind, here in their own words are the two candidates views on a dozen of the most important subjects. Both candidates say they are opposed. The people of America are on your side! Take a few minutes in this Bicentennial year to let your President, your Senators and your Representatives know that you are opposed to any additional gun laws and that you expect them to preserve the right to keep and bear arms which was won by our forefathers 200 years ago. Let them also know that you want crime control, and that crime control deals with criminals, not guns. 9 This article reprinted by permission from GUNS AND AMMO, April 1976 AN ORGANIC FACT by Cori Hansen Apple cores sometimes shrivel up and disintegrate when left unattended, and celery stalks, and whole oranges, and watermelon rinds, and PEOPLE. |
