South Vietnam, uninformed and misinformed about North Vietnam, but can you blame them? Americans get told little if anything about Hanois Totalitarianism, about the Vietnamese police state conditions, about why millions of have risked their lives and abandoned.their property to flee to the safety and freedom of South Viptnam, about the mass extermination programs. THE REDS GAMES PLAN The Soviets have always liked to play games with us. They liked the game called detente but only when we played it according to their rules for all games. With them it must always be heads they win, tails we lose. So now after theyve turned down our deal for treatment for them, they still insist they want to go on playing detente. It wasnt that they wouldn't have won much under our Red Trade deal, but rather that we would not have lost enough because of the limits we put upon credits to the Reds, that made them reject the deal. But they do want to go on playing 'detente where they always win and we always lose. Add the 435 members of the House to the 100 members of the Senate, divide that into the $700 million, and you'll see the average is $ .3 million per legislator. What a waste of money. On top of a base salary of $42,500 per year, members of the House and Senate also receive. Now .please take a good look at this. In'fact, of the 33 members who did not sign the statement, all but one were conservatives. This is a very, very significant indication of what is really going on in the White House and the direction Ford and Rckefeller are taking the government. LOYALTY TO WHOME? Anyone familiar with the extremely deceptive tactics employed by Richard Nixon in the past decade should immediately recognize the issuance of such a statement by the Party bosses. In 1972, for example, the party bosses' fanatically demanded loyalty to Richard Nixon as if he were the Party. In their view, if you were not loyal to Richard Nixon, you were not loyal to the Party.-- This demand for blind following, of course, eventually led to tragedy. Are Ford and Rockefeller now planning to follow the same strategy? It appears very likely. . STATEMENT VOID OF PRINCIPLES The Republican Statement mentioned above was noticeably void of any principles to which the Republicans should be loyal. The statement began: As Republicans, we reaffirm our dedication and loyalty to the party and its principles. But, as the BALTIMORE SUN observed, nowhere in the document are those principles defined. Just where Messrs. Ford et Rockefeller plan to lead the Republican Party and the country might not yet be clear to some, but it is becoming increasingly more clear that the rank and file Republicans are weary of such tactics and are more and more determined to be loyal to the right principles rather than the wrong people. |
