Show Page 8 May 1971 UTAH FARM BUREAU CAN More Agricultural yDU BLAME HIM Weather Reporting For a number of years fruit growers and Uvestockmen alike have been keenly Interested In the weather picture as It affects them WRITE during the budding and blossoming season, lambing season and at other times during the critical growing periods. It has been felt that during the three months March, April and May additional specific Information could greatly reduce the losses due to frost. Recently efforts have been underway to obtain the services of one more meteorologist that could report weather specifically for agriculture. An Agriculture Weather Committee has been formed to organize efforts to secure funds for such a person. Farm and government leaders met this week to outline plans. Plans are that this coming week every effort to correspond with all four Congressmen from Utah, Moss, Bennett, McKay and Lloyd urging support for such funds would be first order of business. It is estimated that a minimum of $20, 000 annually would be required to AND SUPPORT YOUR FARM BUREAU POSITION! satisfy the current needs and proposal. In as much as Lyn Adair Farm Director for KSL has been extending himself and giving leadership to such a service, copies of letters sent, or a note to that effect, should be sent to him to use in evaluating efforts.
