I TAKE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE UTAH FARM BUREAU CREDIT ASSOCIATION Due to the rising interest in Farm Bureau Credit Association, we talked to William D. Shelton, Treasurer of Utah Farm Bureau Credit Association. The interview is printed below: Q. WHO MAY JOIN THE A. Q. A. FARM PEOPLE HAVE INTHEIR COUNTIES, IN THE STATE, IN THE NATION? Farm people when properly organized and active can determine be elected to public office in the rural counties. If they achieve the desired results within their own counties, it reflects Jnto-th- e state and national elections also. A large percentage of the people living In the cities in a state like Utah have rural backgrounds so that when the farmers and ranchers make their desires known and actively support them, many of these people within the cities are inclined to support desires of their "country who will DO WHERE I Q. Farm Bureau member who is interested in getting good people elected to office should be aware that candidates must file for office between April 15 and May 10. So their first real responsibility is to see to it that the person or persons he would like to finally elect actually gets his filing application in during this period of time. His second responsibility and equally as important is to attend the political mass meeting on May 23 where the persons are elected who have the right to select the final candidates for the political primaries and to determine what the platform of the political party shall be. WHEN ARE THE DISTRICT MASS MEETINGS? - A. The primary election is September 13 and the general election November 8. As to other activities during the election year, there Is a nominating convention for state school board memon the 18th of April. We have never paid less than five percent on savings since the Utah Farm Bureau Credit Association has been organized. Q. HOW MUCHDOESTHE CREDIT UNION CHARGE FOR LOANS? A. There is no legal limit in our credit union. We encourage you to save as much as you can. Q. HOW MUCH CAN I BORROW FROM THE CREDIT UNION? A. The limits are set by law. They als o vary with individual cases. The maximum we can loan to any member is 15 of our capital. At the present time, the limit would be around $7, 400.00. A.
