Utahns attending the convention in Chicago December 9 heard newly appointed Secretary of Agriculture Earl L. Butz outline some of the real problems facing agriculture and a number of things Mr. Butz stands for in relation to 5-- agriculture. (More about Mr. Butzs talk on Page 3) The awards program has always been one of the highlights of the national convention and this year was no exception. Utah was recognized for achieving membership quota during the year and for accomplishments in the area of natural resources. Thus Utah received the Two Star Award held by Mr. Hamilton and Miss Bryant in the above photo. In the field of natural resources a story is printed outlining major conclusion of the grazing and economic impact study conducted by Utah State University in this issue. Miss Anita Bryant thrilled the overflow crowd with her songs of inspiration. Miss Bryant comes from Famsdahl, Oklahoma, and gained national popularity when she was named winner of the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts show. She was a runner-u- p in the Miss America Pageant and soon after her first record, Till There was releaseed. Miss Bryants schedule has included visits to the White House, Was You, tours with Bob Hope, ap-- . pearances with Billy Graham, and authorship of her autobiography, Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. Although she had a slight cold she was able to perform flawlessly and received the applause of the orchestra for her classical number. Hie Ray Bert Hansens, Spanish Fork, were appointed to the AFBF Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee and will assist in preparations for the YF&R training school to be held later this month.
