Show priesthood MEETING alie stake tabernacle to be finished forthwith the usual monthly priesthood meeting of the utah stake was held in the meeting hoube last saturday july ath president A 0 smoot presided after the usual preliminaries president A 0 smoot said many of the brethren had asked him whether alie work on the tabernacle would be resumed aliis season or not he had answered them that he did not know but would leave the mattar to the bishops and the people so far as he knew there was a greater disposition on the part of the people to resume the work than he had been for some time he then referred to alie new marriage lawin the territory which requires all those who desire to yet married to obtain a license in the county where they reside he stated that if alie bishops would instruct the people on this matter it would avoid a great deal of inconvenience he then spoke to the bishops in regard to issuing recommends to saints going to the temples in a proper manner and stated that unless more care was observed recommends would be returned the bishops and counselors then es themselves as being willing to resume work on the tabernacle most of alie people were poor and money was scarce but if it was alie determination to go ahead the work the people undoubtedly would raise their proportion A motion was then made that the building committee make another assessment ses and apportionment ct alie amount necessary to pay alie debt owing on the tabernacle and finish the building president david john as an amendment that a committee of three bishops from the north of provo three from the south and one from provo with the stake presidency be appointed a committee to assessment and apportionment carried president smoot alien appointed as said committee bishops T R cutler of lelii wm M bromley of american fork bolm brown of pleasant grove J P R johnson of provo nephi packard of geo D of spanish fork and joss tanner of payson in connection with the stake presidency bishop cutler moved that intense any vacancy should occur in this committee it should be filled by the presidency of the stake carried on motion of president D john bishop J P R johnson was appointed to assume the of the work on the stake tabernacle during the absence of president H II 11 cluff bashop cutler then moved that the committee appointed t estimate the cost of finishing the building including the debts already owing taking inac consideration the amounts yet owing by the wards and apportion the amount equitably to the various wards then adjourned benediction by president david john |
